Innovative Variant Management

Manufacturers of embedded systems are faced with the same situation regularly: Customers want exactly the same system that was implemented fortheir last project (or the one that they have seen at another company). Of course some adjustments may have to be done, otherwise the customer could simply use the old system. The customer assumes – understandably – that this project does not require much work and that it is going to be at rather low cost.

Integration of development partners

Motivated by ambitious cost and time-to-market goals, modern software development has to deal with the integration of development partners more and more. These tendencies are also manifested in the well-known software-process- and maturity-models as well. As one example, the IEC 12207 based SPICE standard focuses on the integration and monitoring of suppliers in a specific process.
